Reserving Your Puppy

It is a good idea to ask to be put on a waiting list for puppies, as it is very common to wait for months for a quality Golden retriever from a reputable breeder. It is standard at Hunter Kennels for us to receive visits or phone calls from potential customers so they get a sense of what my dogs and I are like.
From there, customers choose to be put on my waiting list, accompanied by a non-refundable deposit of $250 if the customer changes their mind about wanting a puppy. If my female does not get pregnant, then it is the customer's choice to wait for the next litter, or receive their deposit back. After the birth, I determine what is available as far as the number and sex of the puppies. The deposit is returned if I do not have enough pups or do not have what a customer requsted in regards to the sex of the puppy. Many people have no problem switching the desired sex if need be.
As the pups go through the growth and development process, I really get to know them and their personalities, and I get a good sense of which puppy best suits which home. Customers are encouraged to visit the puppies once they are 5 weeks old, but please limit your visit to immediate family members and be prepared to use the hand and footwear sanitizer I provide. Puppies go into their new homes in their 7th week. I schedule appointments for pickup, as there is paperwok to be signed, questions to be answered and general puppy care information to go over.
Before the pups go to their new homes, they have been to see their veterinarian, where they are micro-chipped, given their first shots, vet checked and dewormed. Please know that pups that have been purchased as pets must be spayed or neutered at the proper times, and I ask that owners provide me with the documentation. As well, customers must commit to a schedule of follow-up vaccinations (12 wks, 16 wks, 1 yr, then every 2-3 years depending on the area in which the dog lives) . As well, proper, consistent care, training, time, exercise and love is essential to the puppy to ensure a well-adjusted and happy companion.
I am always willing and available to answer questions and give advice about my puppies. I welcome photos, e-mails and phone calls and feel that followup advice is very important. I hope that this website has given you a brief introduction to my treasured and very enjoyable hobby. I breed Golden Retrievers because they are important to me and I strive to do my part in the continuation of this very beautiful breed of dog.
